  • Speaks OCPP for back office reporting

Charge speed

How fast the BasicCharge is

Where this unit sits against the rest of the range, by top output. Speed classes rather than a linear axis, because a wall unit and a rapid DC cabinet do not belong on the same straight line.

Bars are scaled by charging class rather than linearly, so the wall units stay readable next to rapid DC. Figures are each unit’s top output.

On the BasicCharge

20 to 80 per cent, which is the window a fleet actually turns around in.

at 22kW

Indicative. A vehicle whose on-board charger is limited to 7.4kW gains nothing from a 22kW unit.

Installation

What fitting one actually involves

  1. 01

    What installing a pedestal involves

Like any free-standing unit the BasicCharge needs a base and a cable route, so the groundwork is the bulk of the cost rather than the charger. Laying containment for future bays while the ground is open is the single biggest saving available on a car park install.

  2. 02

When BasicCharge is the right call

It does the same core job as the Quantum without the lighting and the extra features, which keeps the cost per bay down. On a staff car park where the bays are not open to the public and the site is already lit, that difference is usually worth having.

Where the bays will be used by visitors or the public, the Quantum is normally the better fit.

  3. 03

    Billing and reporting

It still meters each session and speaks OCPP, so staff can be billed, pool vehicles kept separate and the usage reported. Choosing the simpler unit does not mean giving up the back office.

BasicCharge in short

  • Charges at up to 22kW, or 7.4kW single phase
  • One or two sockets depending on the model
  • Takes payment by contactless card, app or RFID
  • Built-in meter approved for billing drivers

UltraCharge in short

  • Sold from 40kW up to 400kW, so the unit can be matched to the turnaround you actually need
  • The larger units are modular, so power can be added later in steps rather than replacing the cabinet
  • Two outputs that share the available power between vehicles automatically
  • Works across a 150V to 1000V range, so it suits older and newer vehicles
