Rapid DC
Rolec UltraCharge
Rapid DC charging for depots, forecourts and public sites where the time a vehicle spends plugged in is the thing that matters.
What it is for
Where the UltraCharge fits
Fleet depots, commercial car parks, dealerships, service stations and destination sites where drivers want a fast charge while they are stopped.

- Category
- Rapid DC
- Output
- 40kW to 400kW
- Sockets
- Two DC outputs on most models
- Suits
- Commercial sites
Specification
- Sold from 40kW up to 400kW, so the unit can be matched to the turnaround you actually need
- The larger units are modular, so power can be added later in steps rather than replacing the cabinet
- Two outputs that share the available power between vehicles automatically
- Works across a 150V to 1000V range, so it suits older and newer vehicles
- Touchscreen for drivers, and over 96 per cent efficient so very little power is wasted
- Meets PAS 1899, the accessible charging standard
Charge speed
How fast the UltraCharge is
Where this unit sits against the rest of the range, by top output. Speed classes rather than a linear axis, because a wall unit and a rapid DC cabinet do not belong on the same straight line.
Bars are scaled by charging class rather than linearly, so the wall units stay readable next to rapid DC. Figures are each unit’s top output.
On the UltraCharge
20 to 80 per cent, which is the window a fleet actually turns around in.
at 50kW
55 min
at 150kW
18 min
Shown at 50 and 150kW rather than the cabinet’s headline output, because the vehicle sets the ceiling: most vans and cars will not draw more than that.

Installation
What fitting one actually involves
01
What installing a rapid unit involves
With rapid DC the equipment is rarely the hard part, the supply is. A single large UltraCharge is a substantial load and a bank of them is usually a new connection rather than a spare breaker.
So the first work is establishing what the site can get and what it would cost. Where a new or upgraded connection is needed we make the application to the network operator and track it through, because the lead time on that normally sets the programme for the whole job.
02
Groundwork and siting
Rapid units are heavy and need a proper base, so there is civils work as well as electrical work. The cabinet also needs clearance for airflow and for maintenance access, and on a yard it needs protecting from the vehicles working around it.
We would rather agree the position with you against your actual vehicle movements than put it where the cable run is shortest.
03
Buying power you will use
The larger units are modular, so a site can start lower and add power in steps as demand grows. That is usually a better answer than buying headroom that sits idle for three years, and it is worth deciding before the base is poured rather than after.

UltraCharge in short
- Sold from 40kW up to 400kW, so the unit can be matched to the turnaround you actually need
- The larger units are modular, so power can be added later in steps rather than replacing the cabinet
- Two outputs that share the available power between vehicles automatically
- Works across a 150V to 1000V range, so it suits older and newer vehicles
Quantum in short
- Charges at up to 22kW on a three phase supply, or 7.4kW single phase
- One or two sockets on the same pedestal, so two bays share one groundwork run
- Takes payment by contactless card, app or RFID
- Built-in meter approved for billing drivers
