Workplace Charging Scheme

Grant support for charging, and who actually qualifies

We confirm what applies to your site and handle the application. What we will not do is publish a figure that dates within months.

Two schemes worth knowing about

One aimed at workplaces and one at residential property. Both require an OZEV approved installer, and both have rules that are easier to check than to guess.

I am

For workplaces

The Workplace Charging Scheme

This is the main route for businesses, charities and public sector bodies. It contributes towards the cost of buying and installing charge points at a workplace, and it is claimed per socket rather than per site, up to a limit.

The rules cover who can apply, what counts as a workplace, and how many sockets are supported. An OZEV approved installer has to carry out the work, which is one of the reasons that accreditation matters rather than being a badge on a website.

  • For businesses, charities and public sector organisations
  • Claimed per socket, up to a cap on the number supported
  • Must be installed by an OZEV approved installer
  • Applies to off-street parking for staff or fleet use

For rented property and flats

The EV Chargepoint Grant for landlords and flats

Support for residential property is aimed at landlords and at people living in flats, rather than at homeowners with a driveway. There are separate strands for rental property and for residential car parks, and the rules differ between them.

For a managing agent or a landlord with several properties this is usually the strand that matters, and it is worth checking before assuming a scheme has closed. The domestic route most homeowners remember has narrowed considerably.

  • Separate strands for rented property and for residential car parks
  • Aimed at landlords and at residents of flats rather than at homeowners with driveways
  • Rules differ between the strands, so eligibility is checked property by property
  • Also requires an approved installer
Not sure? Answer two questions

Rates and caps change, so neither card quotes a figure.

Why we do not publish the figures

Grant rates and caps change, and a website that quotes a number is wrong within months of the next revision. We would rather tell you what actually applies to your site on the day we survey it than publish a figure you plan around and then find has moved.

If you have read a specific amount somewhere, check the date on the page. A stale grant figure is one of the most common things wrong on installer websites.

What we handle and what you need

We confirm which scheme applies, prepare and submit the application, and provide the installation evidence the scheme requires. What we need from you is the property details, confirmation of who owns or occupies the site, and the off-street parking arrangement.

On a workplace application the number of sockets you intend to install matters, so it is worth deciding the phasing before applying rather than after.

    • We confirm eligibility from the site details rather than assuming
    • We prepare and submit the application
    • We provide the installation evidence the scheme requires
    • You provide ownership or occupancy details and the parking arrangement

Question 1 of 2

What sort of site is it?

Questions

What people ask about grants

The rates and caps change, so we confirm what applies to your site on the day we survey it rather than publishing a figure here that dates. If you have seen a specific amount on another site, check the date on that page.

Most businesses, charities and public sector organisations with off-street parking for staff or fleet vehicles can apply. There are rules about what counts as a workplace and how many sockets are supported, and we check those against your site before applying.

For most homeowners with a driveway, no. Support has narrowed to rented property and to flats, with separate strands for each. Where it applies we confirm it and handle the paperwork, and where it does not we say so rather than implying a discount that is not coming.

Yes. The schemes require the work to be carried out by an OZEV approved installer, which is one of the practical reasons that accreditation matters rather than being decoration on a website.

The schemes cap the number of sockets supported, so it is worth deciding your phasing before applying rather than after. We work that through with you at survey.

We do. We confirm which scheme applies, prepare and submit the application and provide the installation evidence it requires. We need the property details, who owns or occupies the site and the parking arrangement from you.
